The FE 85 mm F1.4 GM II delivers the performance of the previous model with a new optical design that controls chromatic aberration for a more natural bokeh. An 11-lamella circular aperture gives even better results, while precisely controlled spherical aberration minimises circular bokeh through XA (extreme aspherical) elements. All this means a smooth transition between sharp focus and deep bokeh at F1.4.
With the full AF speed and accuracy of professional α-series frames
With 2 XD linear motors and high-speed control, the FE 85mm F1.4 GM II offers up to 3x the AF speed of the previous model. Tracking of a moving subject can be improved up to 7x, so you can shoot even at a narrow depth of field of F1.4. The α9 III's 120 fps frame rate is fully supported with a comprehensive shutter. The FE 85mm F1.4 GM II offers exceptional creative control for high-end portrait photography.
20% less weight while maintaining image quality
XA elements, sophisticated optics, XD linear motors and a compact circular aperture unit deliver excellent performance at high aperture in a centre ring measuring just 84.7 mm x 107.3 mm and weighing 642 g. This translates into approximately 13% less volume and 20% less weight for outstanding speed and a compact fit on α-series frames.
